The First Day

1. Keep the bandage on your tattoo for 1-2 hours

(unless told otherwise)

2. In the Shower…

Loosen the tape on your bandage and get it soaking wet until the bandage slides off. (don’t peel it off)

Gently wash your tattoo with a liquid antibacterial soap. (no scented soap)

Increase the water temperature until it is as hot as you can take it. (obviously without harming yourself or the tattoo.) Rinse your tattoo for 10-15 minutes under the warm water, then splash with cold water before getting out!

3. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel

 NO bath towels!

4. Apply a thin layer of fragrance/scent-free lotion at least 3-4 times a day.

Healing Process

The first few days will be the most sensitive and fragile. Definitely make sure you are keeping your tattoo clean. Once the tattoo starts to heal, you will have scabs and it will become itchy. Don't pick or scratch the tattoo! Just keep cleaning the tattoo and reapply lotion whenever it is dry and itchy. Tattoos could take 2-6 weeks to fully heal depending on the person and body location. But proper healing can definitely help speed the process up!

Tattoos will also be very dark (for black and grey) and colors might not be as bright for the first few days. Throughout the healing process, colors will brighten and soften and black and grey tattoos will get about 40% lighter the more it heals.
